A variety selected by Mr. Hirano of Uji Village, Uji District. As an early-maturing variety with a short optimal harvesting period, it is difficult to expand its cultivation area. Even in Wazuka, Kyoto, the Asahi variety grown by top-class producer Mr. Hosoi is in a class of its own.
